DESIGN " BONES" TILTED TO ONE SIDE IN CANADIAN SMOCKING

Draw the grid on the reverse of the fabric and mark the slanting lines. Leave a border of 3cm all around.

Do the smocking using matching thread. The fabric takes the shape of rhombus after smocking.

Place a square cardboard of measurement 42 cm in the smocked fabric as shown. I have used quilting rulers.

Draw line all around Fix the position of the pleats using 3m tape.

Cut the extra cloth.  We get a square piece. This is used to stitch cushion.

SASHIKO EMBROIDERY - FLOWER TURTLE SHELL DESIGN

After a long break I have started to post in my blog. Recently, I started engaging in Sashiko embroidery. I have used the "flower turtle shell design" for this cushion cover. I feel this design is very cute and beautiful. This design is done by stitching running stitches in three different directions. After finishing stitching in two directions, when I started stitching in the third direction, cute flowers started forming one by one. It made me feel as though jasmine flowers are blooming one by one. White flowers amidst the dark background look eye catching and remind me of a star-lit night sky.
